OVERVIEW

Security Databases™ (SecData™) is a cloud based service which helps protect your telephony environment against hacking and fraud. SecData can assess the risks associated with any phone number being dialed, and the risks associated with any source IP address attempting to connect to your servers. SecData allows your firewall/PBX/servers to block and disconnect hackers and fraudsters before they can do any harm or cause you to incur any toll charges.

SecData is a 100% software solution with all features accessible through a simple ReST interface. SecData servers are located in the cloud and across the globe to ensure quick response and high availability. This approach ensures that the SecData service is accessible from practically any programming language, scripting language, dialplan, etc. and is compatible with practically every telephony environment, PBX, and firewall.

SecData’s hacker database contains the IP addresses of known hackers worldwide. A query to the hacker database with an IP address returns a score from 0 to 100 indicating the likelihood of a hacker operating at that address. The data in the hacker database is continually updated and aged (to prevent stale data from affecting scores), and correlated with other IP addresses and behavior data based on the nature, frequency, type of attacks etc. The hacker database even considers blocks of addresses (subnets) containing hacker IP’s so that new IP addresses in proximity to known hacker IP addresses are recognized as potentially more dangerous.

SecData’s fraudulent phone number database contains phone numbers known to be used in fraud / hacking schemes worldwide. These numbers are often premium rate numbers which can generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in charges in just a matter of hours. A query to the fraudulent phone number database returns a score from 0 to 100 indicating the likelihood of the number dialed being involved in a fraud scheme. The data in the fraudulent phone number database is continually updated and aged (to prevent stale data from affecting scores), and analyzed based on the country codes / prefixes used when dialing, etc.

SecData is an easy to use solution, suitable to a broad range of telephony environments from offices to large call centers, carriers, and ITSP’s. The SecData service can protect not just PBX’s but provisioning servers (TFTP/FTP/WWW), session border controllers, and more.
