Major Modules

The Upstream Trunk Protocol Conversion module accepts communications from a large number of telephony technologies (including analog, VoIP and TDM) and converts them to a common protocol used internally.

The Distribution Analysis module is responsible for reading status information on all downstream devices, and then making a decision on where the call should be routed.

The Agent Monitoring module is responsible for monitoring downstream devices, using advanced or simple methods.  Advanced methods include placing a service on the PBX to capture load information, while simple methods include communicating with a PBX API.

The Legacy Device Monitoring module is responsible for monitoring the load of legacy (“dumb”) devices.  This includes using probes to measure response times, or using predefined algorithms.

The Load Tracking module is responsible for keeping track of all active calls routed through LoDi.  The load data provides an input to the distribution analysis module.

The Codec Conversion module is responsible for converting from the input encoding to the output encoding method.  If codec conversion (transcoding) is not required, then media can bypass LoDi.

The Downstream Trunk Protocol Conversion module converts from the internal protocol to the destination device / trunk technology (including analog, VoIP and TDM).
