Generation F™ is an in-vehicle computing platform for integrating vehicle data with your call-center, or for turning a vehicle into an active Internet of Things (IoT) participant. The device can be can be plugged into an ALDL connector out of sight, and connected to a cell phone to bring the functionality to life.
As a low-power computing platform, a Generation F device is a 32/64-bit ARM computer running Linux. The computer includes sufficient computing power, memory and storage to perform most tasks required of an embedded device. The computer offers WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS for connecting to the outside world.
As an intelligent vehicle controller, a Generation F device can interface with vehicle electronics using Controller Area Network bus (CAN bus). Generation F devices can send and receive (filtered) packets on the CAN bus to listen for data, command modules to perform actions, and more. Telium includes a simple C/C++ library for interfacing with the CAN bus, so creating solutions is as easy as a few lines of code. Sample applications include monitoring vehicle driving habits, tracking the location of employee vehicles when used for commercial purposes, law enforcement, and more.
The Generation F platform is easily plugged and unplugged from a vehicle for portability. The unit consumes minimal power allowing it to remain plugged in 24/7.
